Tim Russell is an artist who works across a variety of media. Much of his work is performance based, but also involves writing, film, photography and other alternative photographic processes.

New this winter, (from Feb 2014) new gallery ~ Uncertain Alchemy. A selection of new chemigram works.

Some of these can also be seen at http://www.common-practise.com and have recently been shown at PhotoPaint as part of Bath Fringe Arts and have also featured in Turning the World Blue at Bournemouth Library, an exhibition of work created by participants in Lensless Photography sessions I lead at Artisan Community Studio in Bournemouth.

I have also been working on a series of performance/video works inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson's "The strange case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde" and the site of their creation, "Skerryvore" which is now a commemorative garden in Bournemouth. Stevenson was desperately ill during this period of his life and came to Bournemouth to recuperate, living as a virtual hermit in his house just off the Westcliff. Stevenson clearly developed an interesting working relationship with his unconscious and described the source of many of the themes to appear in Jekyll and Hyde, that came in dreams as his "Brownies". The resulting film was shown as part of a show reel at the Magic and Enchantment Conference at Cambridge University earlier this year.

Recently my attention has returned again to the tactile quality of ceramics and the enjoyment of making. New developments soon.
